Council Bluffs and Glenwood Engagement Photographer {Teri Lee & Cody}

Sometimes, I have a session that just makes me giddy.  I’ve been waiting to blog this one for a few weeks and for some reason, today seems like the right day.  I can’t wait to shoot Teri Lee and Cody’s wedding in May!  We made the drive out to Glenwood, Iowa for their session and while I think that Cody may have been more interested in looking for fishing and hunting spots, these two really know how to work it for the camera!

Doesn’t this make you long for those beautiful fall sunsets?  Spring can’t come soon enough!

Top 10 Images of 2011 – Council Bluffs and Omaha Photographer

Closing out this year, I wanted to take a look back at my favorite images of 2011.  It’s been a wonderful year filled with a lot of change, progress and excitement!  And as thrilled as I have been with this year, it doesn’t even begin to express my excitement for 2012!  Take a look at the images below and let me know, what’s your favorite??

10.

This image is one of my personal favorites simply because it looks like little Lily here is lecturing her daddy about all sorts of things.  I can just imagine all the things she is telling him in her little 2 year old language.  Can you see it?

9.

This one is a favorite because of little Nile’s expression.

8.

This next one made the top 10 simply because it makes me laugh.  I think that counts for something, right?

7.

And this one?  I just love the emotion.  This is a father-daughter dance at a wedding I shot in Maryland, they had such a cute relationship.  Father-Daughter dances might be one of my favorite parts of the wedding day.  Looking at this one, I’m sure you can see why.

6.

COLOR COLOR COLOR!  Look at that field of grain and blue sky!  Could it be any prettier?  Not to mention a gorgeous couple to boot!

5.

I just love the peacefulness and color of this image.

4.

 This image is a personal source of pride for me.  Little Julia is my niece and I know I’m biased, but I think she’s just about one of the most adorable newborns I’ve ever seen.  Not to mention those little toes and lips!!  UGH!  She makes me giddy!

3.

Can you tell this little guy just makes me laugh? This whole session was amazing because he had such personality!  And those glasses?  Oh those glasses!  Could he possibly get any cuter?  I think not.

2.

I know I’m a bit biased, but I’m in love with this image.  The colors are so warm and bring out the emotion of this couple.  You can really see the love and tenderness between them and that is what really speaks to me.

1.

I just love everything about this image.  The silhouette, the kiss, the belly, the broken fence, the sun-flare.  EVERYTHING.  This image is just one of those that makes me happy.

OPLove: Reunited – Offutt AFB photographer

A few weeks ago I shared that I am now a part of OPLove Reunited.  A wonderful program in which local photographers all across the world volunteer their time and energy to photograph families who are serving this wonderful nation of ours.  This beautiful family was my very first chance to participate and I couldn’t be happier that they allowed me into this special moment.

Thank you Hulse family for letting me be a part of this!

The Jensen Family – Council Bluffs and Omaha Family Photographer

Judging by the weather in these images, I’m sure you can tell I’m a little behind the season in blogging right now.  But the good news is that I’m slowly but surely digging myself out of this hole and getting sessions up on the blog!  This was my first official session back in Iowa this fall and I’m so excited to be back in the midwest!  That being said, now that it’s December and hitting negative temperatures, I’m longing for a trip to the south.  Luckily, I’ll be heading to New Orleans in January for the Imaging USA 2012 expo and I am beyond excited!  But that is a post all for itself.

Council Bluffs Family Photographer {Zimmermans}

This family session wasn’t actually shot in Iowa or Nebraska, however it is OF Iowan’s and Nebraskan’s so therefor – I think it qualifies.  Don’t you?  All of my clients are special to me, but this family in particular is extra super special.  You see years ago, in my years at Iowa State University (go Cyclones!) I was randomly assigned a roommate my freshman year of college.  And somehow, that randomly assigned roommate has managed to stay in my life and become a life-long friend.  We’ve even somehow moved across the country at separate times (twice or more each) and still ended up near enough to make a day’s drive.  Now if that’s not fate, I don’t know what is.

This particular session was shot on the beach at Camp LeJuene, North Carolina where they are stationed for the Marine Corps.

A big Thank You to Chris and Travis for not only putting up with me, but for being amazing friends (and for living near a beach so I can always come visit you when I need a beach vacation).
